Sure, the number differs, but the reasons are equally compelling and important. Reason 1 – Extreme pricing for the value Pricing for the iPhone 4 seems to be extremely attractive at a first sight. I mean, just 200 US dollars appears like a pretty sweet deal, but it's something only available for users who “qualify,” namely those who're about to end a contract period and wish for an update or those ready to sign up with AT&T. The others, however, will have to pay a whole lot more than the device is actually worth, namely upwards of 500 US dollars if they're looking for the unlocked device and around 400/500 US dollars if they're considering an upgrade. Reason 2 – Wait for Windows Phone 7 and Android As we're pretty sure you're well aware by now, Microsoft has already announced its Windows Phone 7 operating system for smartphones, the first products running this new software platform being scheduled to arrive at some point in the fall of 2010. The fresh OS looks extremely promising so far, and it's very likely that the mobile experience it will be able to deliver will be an impressive one as well. Plus, as far as Android is concerned, we're witnessing rapid growth and innovation in this field too. Sure, the Google-backed mobile OS has still a long way to go, but in terms of R&D effort, we dare to say it's above the iOS 4. Not to mention there are plenty of Android smartphones out there that can easily outperform the iPhone 4 (the HTC EVO 4G being perhaps the best example). Reason 3 – iPhone 4 is not really social media-friendly Let's face it, compared to the Android smartphones, the iPhone 4 and its iOS 4 operating system are far from being social media-friendly. Plus, there's no visible support for various cloud services, which will only become more important in the future. Reason 4 – FaceTime video calling feature Yeah, we've listed this one as a reason for buying an iPhone 4, but it can also go the other way around. Let's face it, there are many people out there who don't want the person contacting them to know their whereabouts, at all times. And if you're such a person, you'll certainly not want to purchase this thing either for you or your spouse. Reason 5 – You simply don't trust Apple and its products This is somewhat of a personal thing. I mean, there are plenty of people out there who don't agree with the idea of getting an Apple product simply due to the extreme fanboyism surrounding each product coming out from Cupertino. I mean, the “trendy” people go for the Apple products simply because this fits their lifestyles, but there are plenty of “anti-trendy” users out there who don't want to have anything to do with these overpriced devices. Reason 6 – The choice of network carrier (just for US readers) The biggest problem the iPhone 4 has, at least in the United States, is the fact that it's only available at AT&T, which is far from being the most reliable carrier out there. I mean, its history of data caps, dropped calls, etc. is notorious, and we doubt that things will change significantly over the next two years (the average timeframe for a contract). However, to be honest, we've seen the 3GS running on other networks (in Europe), and the device behaves absolutely great.
